Beyond research

Formula Student

I spent two years on the PolyU E-Formula Racing Team, first as a powertrain engineer and then as deputy director, powertrain lead, and one of the drivers. We built an electric car from scratch and took it to Silverstone for Formula Student 2023, then to Hefei for Formula Student Electric China, where we placed third.

Volunteering and mentoring

In January 2024 I led a service trip to Tanga, Tanzania with Projekt Inspire. In June 2023 I led a voluntary teaching team in Lingao County, Hainan, with HeartFire Education.

In London I mentor sixth-form students at Ark Academy Wembley through Imperial’s widening-participation programme, working with Year 12 students considering engineering and computing.

Speaking

I have spoken on panels about how universities and students should adapt to generative AI: the ETTE Symposium 2025 in Hong Kong, and a Student Voices session on generative AI in learning and assessment.

Tennis

I was a registered tennis athlete with the Shantou sports team from 2014, and still compete when I can.

EVTOLASIA

In 2024 I co-founded EVTOLASIA, the first English-language newsletter covering the Asian eVTOL market, which took me to the Shenzhen eVTOL Expo as invited media. It is no longer running.

Travel

Almost everything on this page happened somewhere else. This is the running map of where — the races and service trips above, the conferences, and the places I went for no particular reason.

Places I have lived, worked, and travelled. Open the full map.
